Exciting Browns win over Steelers provides big boost for Titans position at the top of 2025 draft
The Browns did the Titans a huge favor on TNF.
Where were you for the Jameis Winston snow game?
The Cleveland Browns upset the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday Night Football to kick off Week 12, winning a deliciously sloppy game as the first snow of the NFL season came pouring down around halftime. It was everything that's right about AFC North football.
Not only was it an exciting game to watch for football fans across the land, but it was doubly-exciting for Tennessee Titans faithful. The Browns were one of five teams with only 2 wins on the season, a part of the logjam at the top of the 2025 draft order.
Getting their third win of the season, Cleveland jumped down to the 7th overall pick. You can see the current standings here on Tankathon.

This leaves just four teams at the bottom of the 2024 NFL heap in terms of wins: Jacksonville, Tennessee, New York, and Las Vegas. Jacksonville is the only team with 9 losses yet, as they've yet to take their bye. But all 4 teams are in the running for that top overall spot.
According to ESPN's FPI model which was updated at the conclusion of Week 11, Tennessee is almost certainly locked into a top-10 pick next year. They give them a 92.8% chance of picking in that range. They also have a better than a coin flip chance of picking in the top-5, sitting at a 59.9% likelihood. And that elusive #1 overall pick is something FPI gives them a 14.7% chance of landing.
And now with the Browns getting a third win, all of those numbers are bound to rise when the model is run again. But do any of the other 2-win teams stand a chance this weekend to move up to the 3-win club as well?
The Titans are headed to Houston for just their 2nd divisional game of the season, facing the AFC South-leading Texans for the first time. CJ Stroud's squad is hot off the heels of dismantling the Dallas Cowboys on national television (what a glorious sight), and Tennessee is a steep 8 point underdog in that matchup.
The current holders of #1 overall are finally taking their bye in Week 12, so the Jaguars will remain at 2 wins for at least one more week. With the very high likelihood of Jacksonville being under new head coaching management by the time Week 13 rolls around, the classic interim-coach-bump could potentially get them to a third win against the Texans off some needed rest.
The Giants are 2.5 point road underdogs against the spiraling Cowboys this week. Both teams are without their starting QB, Dallas because of a serious injury and the Giants because of the merciful benching of Daniel Jones. In fact, as I'm writing this, breaking news: Daniel Jones has been released from the Giants altogether! So while they could get to 3 wins this weekend, New York certainly seems like a team that's going to be a fierce competitor in the tank-off down the stretch.
And finally, the Raiders are whopping 12.5 point road dogs against the Chiefs this weekend. Not much to say on that front… expect the Raiders to remain at two wins for another week.
While I don't personally think it's likely the Titans go the rest of the season without winning another game or two (in fact, I think they could really trend up to finish the season), for now they remain firmly in the hunt for the most valuable draft pick the franchise has seen in nearly a decade.
One old world cliche to remember when watching Will Levis’ final seven games of the Titans season
