NASHVILLE — While Week 1’s Tennessee Titans loss to the Denver Broncos was clouded by 13 penalties and a few instances of coaching malpractice, there were several positives in the result. 2025 second-round pick Femi Oladejo was one such example.
While the young edge defender did not light things up in the box score, Oladejo made his presence felt on more than one occasion.
Oladejo is a work in-progress
Tennessee knew that coming in for a player that converted from an off-ball linebacker at UCLA to a pass rusher in his final collegiate season.
“Solid, this is a solid start for him,” coach Brian Callahan said on Wednesday. “He set some violent edges for us. He was physical in a run game and he did what we asked him to do as far as the rush goes in terms of trying to crush and collapse the pocket. And he’s still working on his rush moves and counter moves and all those things. He’s getting better every week, so it was a good start for him.”
Oladejo played 53 of a possible 76 defensive snaps in Denver.
The rookie finished with the second most pressures on the Titans front with two. Defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons led the way with seven total pressures, including Tennessee’s lone sack. Coordinator Dennard Wilson’s unit won’t be the best pass rush group, but any contributions they can get from Oladejo in Year 1 will go a long way.
The Titans host the Los Angeles Rams in their home opener at Nissan Stadium on September 14.
