NASHVILLE — It is no secret that the Tennessee Titans have desperate personnel needs everywhere, with particularly glaring holes in the secondary. General manager Mike Borgonzi spoke Thursday as the team works its way through construction of its initial roster and practice squad ahead of next week’s opening date with the Denver Broncos.
Borgonzi was particularly pleased with the team’s opportunity to claim former Baltimore Ravens corneerback Jalyn Armour-Davis with their No. 1 spot in the waiver order.
Jalyn Armour-Davis is a low risk, high reward add for the Titans
With no set time table for the return of veteran corner L’Jarius Sneed to Tennessee’s line-up, the Titans needed to fortify the back end of their defense.
Owning the top of the waiver wire comes in handy at this time of year. Waived by Baltimore on Tuesday, Armour-Davis showed significant promise during the 2025 preseason with an interception and three pass deflections in the Ravens three exhibition games. The drawback for the fourth-year defensive back is that he has played in only 19 career games for Baltimore in three seasons.
Still, the 2022 fourth-round pick out of Alabama is a significant upgrade on some of the players Tennessee had on the roster during training camp, then released or waived.
“We looked into and I’ve studied Jalyn since he was back in Alabama,” said Borgonzi. “He has had some injuries, but we feel like we have a good plan here with the training staff and Matt (Gregg) that we’re going to be able to get him up to speed. He’s a talented corner. As we were going through these preseason cuts, really, he was one of the better corners out there that we saw. So, he’s still young, he’s talented and it was four other teams, I think, put a claim in for him, four including us. I think anytime you can add a young corner to the roster, that’s why we put the claim in.”
The Titans claimed four total players off of waivers on Wednesday, including Armour-Davis, with corner Samuel Womack III, linebacker Dorian Mausi and defensive end C.J. Ravenell.
