Trade deadline rumors can be nasty.

The 2025 NFL Trade Deadline has come and gone, and the Tennessee Titans made just three moves in-season. EDGE Dre’Mont Jones was the only player the moved between the end of Week 9 and the Tuesday deadline, much to the surprise and dismay of many who didn’t read reports like mine stating the Titans would not be a fire-sale team.

Now, if you’re frustrated the Titans didn’t sell everybody even though you knew they reportedly weren’t going to, that’s a different story. Fair enough! Titans GM Mike Borgonzi made each decision with Cam Ward in mind at the end of the day. You can take issue with his judgement on that front, but the Titans considered each best offer their received with the QB in mind.

And that brings us to a report out of New England country from the deadline, which raises another potential frustration for Titans fans that I believe is entirely unfounded: Amy Adams Strunk’s supposed petty prejudice.

Amy Adams Strunk is being unfairly accused of trade deadline bias

Reputable Patriots writer Mike Giardi at the Boston Sports Journal wrote this on the morning of the deadline, sharing what he’d heard leading up to the big day:

“I was also told there has been some conversation league-wide that Tennessee might be unwilling to make deals with New England because the owner, Amy Adams Strunk, continues to think too much about how things ended with Vrabel and is not inclined to help his new team. We’ll find out soon enough with the likes of edge Arden Key, RB Tony Pollard, and even WR Calvin Ridley available.”

This is a bold accusation from at least some unnamed corner of the NFL! Unfortunately for Amy Adams Strunk, potentially silly accusations like these are harder to dispute when you’ve build a certain reputation for yourself over the years with your actions.

But in this case, my understanding and belief if that this rumor is entirely untrue and unfair to the Titans owner. It’s a real rumor that Giardi identified, but that’s all it seems to be: a nasty rumor.

This kind of information doesn’t come out on the day of the deadline without somebody wanting it out there. And it smells like classic narrative spinning on the part of some interested party in New England, hoping the Titans might change their stance on a trade target. A real “I heard you wouldn’t!” kind of dare. The Patriots have been well-documented in recent days as being in the market for a running back and/or a pass rusher, two things the Titans actually had as theoretical trade candidates. I wrote about the likelihood of the Titans and Patriots discussing a trade last week at the link here.

The bottom line is that the Titans spoke with and listened to the best offers from all 31 teams, and took the best offers they got that met their criteria to sell. To be prejudiced against one team—in particularly silly fashion, in this supposed case—would be a stupid disservice to their own goals.
