JACKSONVILLE — Quarterback Cam Ward’s rookie season came to a screeching halt in Week 18 after an injury to his right shoulder in a 41-7 blowout in Jacksonville against the Jaguars. It brought the Titans final record to 3-14 for the second consecutive season.

Ward was very quickly ruled out for the remainder of the game.

Mike McCoy updates Cam Ward’s status

Ward was initially deemed questionable, but was ruled out at the end of the first quarter.

“Cam’s shoulder,” said interim head coach Mike McCoy. “We’ll do more testing when we get back home.”

McCoy added that he was disappointed for Ward, who played 100% of his team’s offensive snaps this season heading into the final game. Ward was the only player at his position who had been that available in the NFL this season. A note that was particularly impressive, given that the rookie was the most sacked quarterback in football this year.

Ward did not speak to the media postgame.

“Tough as hell (to see Ward go down),” said defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons. “He’s our quarterback. He’s the head of the snake. To see him go down that early, it sucks.”

While the timeline for Ward’s recovery is still unknown, he will have the entire offseason to recover. Should a surgical procedure be necessary, however, it could eat into the young quarterback’s time to refine his mechanics and footwork. Cleaning up the technical side of the position for Ward is critical for Ward heading into 2026, and any disruption to that could set the franchise back as a whole.
