In 2024, the Tennessee Titans didn’t secure the first overall draft pick until their final games of the year. They rose to the top of the order in come-from-behind fashion thanks to continued losing on their part, and some very helpful wins by the Giants and Patriots in December.

In 2025, they’re already in the top spot at the midpoint of the season. And with seven games left to play, their odds of getting back-to-back first overall draft picks are shocking high.

The Titans odds of getting the 1st overall pick again

ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI) is an advanced system that models a lot of things in the NFL. Amongst them is predictive final records, which can tell us the odds of the final draft order. ESPN’s Seth Walder shared the Week 12 update on the draft landscape, and the Titans have a pretty strong lead at the moment.

Nearly a coin-flip shot at the top pick already is equal parts shocking and depressing, but great news for the Titans trade-down prospects. The next closest team is the Browns at 24.4%, then the Jets at 13% and the Saints at 8.1%.

In terms of landing a top 5 pick, they have better than a 9-in-10 chance. And their odds of staying in the top 10 are practically 100%. Tennessee still plays both the Browns and the Saints this year, and it’s likely those two matchups will determine the top of the draft order. There are a handful of these sloppy matchups down the stretch, in fact. So while all the characters in the top 10 feel roughly cast by now, their order of appearance will be up to how they perform against one another these final weeks:

It would be a big deal for Cam Ward and the other young players that make of the nucleus of this team going forward to get some experience winning down the stretch. But the models (and most people’s eyes) say that it’s a longshot they’ll do much of that in 2025.
