Ran Carthon addresses napping, work ethic rumors from critics one week after getting fired as Titans GM
Titans ex-GM took to Nashville radio less than a week after being unceremoniously fired.
In a strange turn of events, Ran Carthon gave the longest interview of his time in Nashville after he was fired.
On Monday morning, Carthon joined Ramon Foster and Kayla Anderson on 104.5 The Zone's "Ramon, Kayla & Will" for a full hour of discussion. And frankly, if you didn't tune in, you didn't miss much. The majority of the discussion entailed veering off on topics of vacations, family stories, and a lot of music talk. If you wanted serious insights into the state of the Titans and the circumstances of Ran's departure, you were left empty handed.
In fairness to Ramon, Kayla, and all those involved in organizing the sit-down, there's no telling how much they were disallowed from saying. If you think it's a coincidence that the names "Amy Adams Strunk" and "Chad Brinker" weren't uttered a single time during the hour-long discussion, you're mistaken. There were surely plenty of legal pitfalls that Ran and his hosts had to avoid. But that didn't make the exclusive interview any less disappointing.
There were a couple moments of football-relevant discussion, chief amongst them being Ran addressing the personal attacks he endured in the past week from anonymous sources. If you aren't privy to those, read this article about the ugly picture the Titans and anonymous voices inside the building painted last week. Here's what the former Titans executive had to say about all the rumors of personal issues:
"Yeah, I mean, I've been called a lot of things and (lazy) isn't one of them, you know what I mean? But again, when it comes to stuff like that, when people who speak on you don't know you personally, you can shrug that off. Because again, there are a lot of people that know me and know who I am, know my character, know what I'm made of. And so those people know, and that's all that matters to me. So I mean, again, I'm not going to give credence to someone who has never sat down, had a personal conversation with me or been in my home, or been invited to my home, or I've been invited to their home. So, you know, there are a bunch of people that say things about me, you know, even before I had a chance to do the job, there were negative things said about me. And so if I gave that credence, then I'd lose my mind, especially in this day and age. So none of that really means anything to me, to be honest with you."
