Titans minicamp kicked off on Tuesday and a handful of likely significant contributors in 2024 were made available after practice, including fourth year edge defender, Rashad Weaver.
Now that Denico Autry is gone, there's a great chance Weaver will be asked to step up into a far more impactful role than he's ever been required to play for the Titans. From the sound of it he's excited to hit the ground running in his expanded role and shared his thoughts on the new coaching staff getting him ready for his opportunity.
Rashad Weaver shares strong opinion on Dennard Wilson
Weaver did not hesitate to speak highly of new Tennessee Titans' defensive coordinator, Dennard Wilson. When asked about how he would describe the new style of defense that Wilson brings in 2024 to the Titans, Weaver seemed excited (as you can see in the post below):
"Fun, aggressive…the first day, the first meeting we had I told him, 'You have me ready to run through a wall.'"
Weaver loves him some Dennard Wilson, and would apparently run through a wall for him. He loves the balance that Wilson brings with an exciting scheme that will properly utilize his skills and push the team to get better. Thanks to Wilson's strong communication and teaching skills Weaver seems all in:
"He's very hard on us, but he also lets you know when you're doing stuff right. And that's the biggest thing for me…sometimes before I didn't know when I was doing stuff right. But I know when I'm doing stuff right now…and that makes you want to fix all the mistakes because it's being noticed."

Weaver loves the back and forth that comes from Wilson who has no problem being vocal from the sidelines, communicating clearly when something is good, bad, or needs to be changed. And Weaver isn't the only one who loves the new scheme. Jack Gibbens had great things to say about Wilson's ability to properly use different players' skills in ways that fit them that is best for the team too.
Weaver has logged about 50 tackles over the last two seasons, but will likely be asked to log many more than that in 2024. With Wilson helping him improve, potentially maximizing his skillset, we could see a version of Weaver we've never seen before in Tennessee.
