The Tennessee Titans and general manager Ran Carthon are on the move with the NFL trade deadline approaching (November 5th). Shortly following the news that the Titans would be trading DeAndre Hopkins to the Kansas City Chiefs for a conditional fourth-round draft pick, Carthon made another great move.
According to multiple sources the Tennessee Titans are sending their new linebacker Ernest Jones IV to the Seattle Seahawks. In return Seattle will be sending linebacker Jerome Baker and a fourth round pick to Tennessee.
The Titans had just acquired Ernest Jones IV and a 2026 6th round pick for a 2026 5th round pick in a trade with the Los Angeles Rams prior to the start of the season, so this move might come as a shock to some, but it makes great sense. Carthon immediately turning Ernest Jones IV into another linebacker (Jerome Baker) and a conditional 4th round pick is an immediate win for the Titans in trade value and it doesn't hurt their future prospects either.
Jones was set to become a free agent after this year, so the Titans could not likely keep him either way. Their newly trade-minted linebacker in Jerome Baker is also a free agent after the season, but if the Titans decide to bring him back he would likely be significantly cheaper given his age and recent production.
The Titans now have eight picks (as of this writing) to work with in the 2025 NFL Draft:
Round 1
Round 2
Round 4
Round 4 (via SEA)
Round 5 (via KC, turns to 4th if Chiefs make Super Bowl and Hopkins plays 60% of snaps)
Round 5
Round 6
Round 7 (via GB)
It's clear that the Titans are shifting their gaze to the future after moving DeAndre Hopkins and Ernest Jones IV, but there's still plenty for Titans fans to get excited about. Ran Carthon just took two players who would have left for absolutely no compensation this offseason and turned them into two draft picks and a linebacker the team may look to re-sign for cheap following this season.
That's not a bad start. Look for the Titans and GM Ran Carthon to continue making moves as the trade deadline approaches.
