The Tennessee Titans have concluded OTAs and minicamp, so players have dispersed for a brief break before NFL training camps kick off in mid-July. Some players take retreats with teammates. Others go on vacation somewhere tropical. And others, like rookie JC Latham, primarily stay at the Titans facility to prepare for the season. But not tight end Chig Okonkwo.

Okonkwo is unique in that he was born to a Nigerian family who came to the United States in the mid 1990s. So he decided to take some time to go visit Nigeria, his parents' home country, on his break before the season. And while there, he apparently ran into a group of young athletes playing 7-on-7 American football and decided to join them (as you can see in his Instagram Story image below).

Chig Okonkwo’s IG story on Saturday June 15.

"Found em running 7 on 7 at the park. I had to join in."

It's probably not too often that this group of Nigerian football fans get to be joined by a real NFL tight end, but today was a special day. We don't have more specific details (yet), but Okonkwo must have made their day.

Okonkwo should be primed for one of his best seasons yet with the Tennessee Titans now that general manager Ran Carthon has added several strong wide receivers around him, and new head coach Brian Callahan is installing a pass-happy offense. Okonkwo should be able to have easier one-on-one matchups on every single snap, leading to some advantageous opportunities. Let's just hope he stays healthy during his break and doesn't push it too hard in pickup football games halfway round the world.
