Three things to watch at Miami QB Cam Ward's pro day ahead of 2025 NFL Draft
Time to finish strong
NASHVILLE — Miami quarterback Cam Ward will throw at the Hurricanes pro day on Monday. Ward is -750, per FanDuel Sportsbook, to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
The Tennessee Titans are currently slated make the top choice.
Tennessee's glaring need for a passer should make picking Ward a lay-up. New Titans general manager Mike Borgonzi signed 10 unrestricted free agents and retained four more since the new league year began. Borgonzi's only addition to the team's quarterback room that includes 2023 second-round pick Will Levis was veteran back-up Brandon Allen.
Only a godfather-scale trade offer should prevent Tennessee from drafting Ward.
Here are three things to keep an eye on at Ward's pro day:
NFL teams at the top of the draft who might want Cam Ward
Currently, the top five picks in the NFL's 2025 draft order belong to the Titans, the Cleveland Browns, the New York Giants, the New England Patriots and the Jacksonville Jaguars.
New England and Jacksonville both have quarterbacks in place. New York signed veteran Jameis Winston to a two-year deal last week after bringing back exclusive rights free agent Tommy DeVito. The Giants failed in their offseason plan to acquire Matt Stafford from the Los Angeles Rams, and may still be an option for wayward former Super Bowl champion Aaron Rodgers.
The Browns traded for Philadelphia Eagles back-up passer Kenny Pickett after Deshaun Watson tore his Achilles tendon.
Tennessee, Cleveland and New York are expected to have significant staff contingents present on Monday. Conversations will be had amongst those in attendance about any remaining potential for trade-up deals. The Titans have the leverage, and would do well to just take Ward No. 1 overall. Still, offers are always worth listening to, and there will be plenty of chatter.
All 32 teams will have representatives in attendance.

Cam Ward's first public workout before the NFL Draft
Ward did not participate in throwing drills at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine.
Citing "five years of tape," the Hurricanes passer believed he demonstrated that he’s one of the NFL Draft’s top players.
“Tape says everything to me,” he said at the Combine. “I honestly believe that. But what separates me from everybody is the way I approach the game, the mindset I have. Coming how far I have, my journey, a lot of people couldn’t do that. So whether I go first round or second round, at the end of the day that draft pick don’t mean nothing. It’s about establishing yourself.”
Ward's resumé is battle-tested.
Starting his collegiate career at Incarnate Word, Ward elevated his game at each stop transferring to Washington State before finishing as a Heisman Trophy finalist at Miami. Ward finished with First-team AP All-America team honors and won the Davey O’Brien Award, awarded to the country’s best college quarterback.
Ward completed 67.2% of his passes for 4,313 yards, 39 touchdowns with seven interceptions in 2025
Miami NFL Draft Prospects that will workout with Cam Ward
Ward will not be the only future NFL talent on display at Miami's pro day.
While the Hurricanes quarterback is the main event, 19 other players will showcase their skills for NFL staffs on the hunt for new talent. Miami had 10 of those players invited to the Combine. Wide receiver Xavier Restrepo and tight end Elijah Arroyo highlight a group that will help Ward put his best foot forward.
Any team taking Ward might have interest in reuniting him with one or two of his college teammates.
