With just one more game remaining until the official end of the 2023 NFL season, most teams are fully in offseason mode.
That includes the Tennessee Titans, whose fans are now looking toward free agency, and the 2024 NFL Draft.
To prepare all 32 fan bases for the upcoming draft, I published my first two-round mock draft of the cycle, in which the Titans landed two dynamic players to improve the offensive side of the ball.
Round 1, Pick 7: Rome Odunze, WR, Washington
"Some will be shocked that I bypassed offensive line for the Titans at seven, but I love the fit of Rome Odunze with Will Levis too much. Levis lives with his eyes downfield, and Oduzne was one of the best contested-catch WRs in all of college football last season. The Titans need at WR is just as glaring as their offensive line needs, which makes me think this could actually happen."
Many would prefer to see the Titans draft one of the top two offensive tackles in this year's draft class, but I went a different route. I think the top two needs for the Titans is pretty clearly WR and OT. And I think it would be foolish for them to ignore how great of a fit Washington WR Rome Odunze would be with Will Levis to not at least consider him if he's on the board at seven.
Round 2, Pick 38: Patrick Paul, OT, Houston
"But after going WR in the first, the Titans have to look at OT in the 2nd, and luckily for them, a Senior Bowl standout is on the board here with Patrick Paul out of Houston. Paul projects as a day-one starter and moves really well for his size, and he put that on display in Mobile last week. Passing on OT in the first is a risk, but I think this OT class is deep enough to warrant the decision."
After passing on a tackle in the first, I had the Titans selecting Houston's Patrick Paul. Paul had a really strong week at the Senior Bowl, and multiple people I spoke to believe he has a chance to hear his name called in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. But if he does slide into round two, I think he is a perfect fit for the Titans to draft, and they can play him on either side of the line, but they most likely would want him to start at LT on day one.
