Titans adding another former NFL GM to their front office structure
Tennessee’s new personnel group will have plenty of experience
NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Titans have added another front office executive with prior NFL general manager experience. On Sunday, the team hired football lifer Reggie McKenzie to new GM Mike Borgonzi's staff in a senior scouting role.
McKenzie had a first-round interview for Tennessee's general manager opening earlier this month.
Reggie McKenzie has many ties to the new Titans structure
Most recently, McKenzie served for six seasons as a senior personnel executive for the Miami Dolphins.
Coach Brian Callahan, President of Football Operations Chad Brinker and Borgonzi have all had some level of crossover with McKenzie during his 31 years in pro football. McKenzie spent seven years (2012-18) as the general manager of the Oakland Raiders where Callahan served as the quarterbacks coach during McKenzie's final season. McKenzie's 18 years (1994-2011) with the Green Bay Packers' personnel department also corresponds with Brinker's time on the same staff.
Brinker arrived in Green Bay in 2009 as an intern before spending the next 13 years with the Packers.
McKenzie was drafted out of the University of Tennessee in the 10th round of the 1985 NFL draft by the Los Angeles Raiders. Following his playing career, he spent the 1993 season as a graduate assistant coach at his alma mater. McKenzie's son, Khalil, also played football for the Volunteers and was a 2018 sixth-round pick by the Kansas City Chiefs, where Borgonzi was serving as Assistant General Manager to Brett Veach.
Six degrees of separation now land McKenzie in Tennessee.
Titans disaster season en route to No. 1 overall NFL Draft pick should largely be blamed on Amy Adams Strunk
How the hell did it get this bad this quickly?
