NASHVILLE – Tennessee Titans defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons is pretty notorious for his competitive fire and on-field personality.

Anybody who has watched Simmons play, or practice for that matter, knows about the energy he brings. Simmons loves to talk trash, and he knows how to back it up. The two-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle is one of the most dominant interior defensive linemen in the NFL.

When the Titans open the 2024 NFL season against the Chicago Bears at Solider Field, Simmons is keeping that same energy for rookie quarterback Caleb Williams.

In a recent appearance on The Rich Eisen Show, Simmons told Eisen that he "can't wait" to chirp Williams about the rookie's controversial fashion choices.

"Painted nails. I can't wait to say that to him," Simmons said with a laugh when prompted about facing Chicago for Williams' debut.

Williams was widely criticized ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft for painting his fingernails during his time at USC. If you ask Williams, he'd say he's just being himself and letting his personality shine. Considering he was both a Heisman Trophy winner and the first overall pick in the draft, I'd say it has worked out okay for him thus far. But Williams has undoubtedly opened himself up for criticism with his uniqueness, and players like Simmons won't hesitate to knock the rookie down.

Is Simmons flying too close to the sun here? Perhaps. Simmons' comments have started to capture national headlines, and it definitely won't be the best look if Williams and the Bears tear up Tennessee's defense in the opener.

But if anyone's going to give Caleb Williams a real "Welcome to the NFL" moment, it's Jeffery Simmons. Like I said before, Simmons is used to talking, He's also used to backing it up.

Chicago and Tennessee will kick off from Soldier Field at 12pm CST on Sunday, September 8th.
