NASHVILLE — Tennessee Titans head coach Brian Callahan is bringing years of experience working with some of the best quarterbacks in the game to his new home in Nashville.

Over the years, Callahan has been the quarterbacks coach for Peyton Manning, Matthew Stafford, Derek Carr, and most recently Joe Burrow. He has seen first-hand what a franchise quarterback looks like knows how to enhance their abilities.

With that in mind, it should excite Titans fans to know that Callahan has had a positive first impression of Titans quarterback Will Levis.

Will Levis Is "Exciting"

During his introductory press conference with Titans media on Thursday, Callahan shared that working with Levis was one of the things that attracted him to the head coaching job in Tennessee.

"That part is attractive. I thought that Will (Levis) was a really good player coming out of college, and I thought when you watch him play this year, you saw growth," said Callahan about his new quarterback. "I mean, you saw him learn. The NFL is hard. It's hard on quarterbacks. It's particularly hard on young ones. And so, I saw a lot of really positive things, some of the throws, some of his competitive instincts that he put on tape, were really impressive. And so, I'm excited to dive more into that and how can he get better from year one to year two and keep putting him in position to have success so we can score some points on offense."

That's exactly what you want to hear if you're a Titans fan. The competitive edge that Levis played with during his rookie season captured the hearts of his fans and teammates. The physical abilities he flashed, both with his athleticism and arm strength were electrifying.

If given sufficient protection from his offensive line and a receiving corps that can make plays down the field, Levis could improve into one of the NFL's most exciting quarterbacks. That's the recipe for the Titans to get back into contention in the AFC South and NFL. It seems to me like Brian Callahan is already well aware of that.

Callahan and Levis have wasted no time getting acquainted with one another. After getting the job as Titans head coach, Callahan called Levis to introduce himself. Prior to Thursday's press conference, Callahan actually ran into Levis at the Titans' practice  facility…where else but in the weight room?

"I called Will (Levis), I don't even know what day it is anymore, but called Will a few days ago after I got the job," said Callahan when asked about how much contact he has had with his quarterback. "Then I saw him here today. He was working out, so I got a chance to catch up with him. I've really enjoyed getting to know him. I can't wait to get to work with him. He's got a lot of really special physical talents, that I'm excited to go see if we can make better. Everything about him so far has been fantastic. I'm excited to get to go further down into it."

If all works out, the marriage between Callahan and Levis is going to be exactly what the Titans have needed for years. Titans fans, welcome to NFL football in 2024: Where quarterbacks are a priority and head coaches know as much.

What a solid first impression Will Levis has made and what a tremendous start to the Brian Callahan era of Titans football.
