MOBILE — The Tennessee Titans hold the 1st overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and it’s one of the hottest topics around the league.

Unlike previous seasons, there is no clear cut choice at 1:1. There are four different prospects in contention to go in the top spot and there’s know guarantee it will even be the Titans making that pick when the clock starts on April 24th.

Everybody wants to know what Tennessee is going to do. But if you ask the Miami Hurricanes players participating in the Reese’s Senior Bowl in Mobile this week, the choice should be obvious.

Our Senior Bowl coverage is presented by our friends at Bart Durham Injury Law. A crash can change your life forever; and help is available 24/7 wherever is most convenient, including virtual.

That’s exactly what I did. I asked Miami Hurricanes WR Xavier Restrepo and TE Elijah Arroyo about their quarterback, Cam Ward. Both players gave large endorsements to why he should be the Titans' selection at 1st overall and why he can be a quarterback that changes the trajectory of a franchise.

"If Cam doesn't get picked first overall…I don't know what to say," WR Xavier Restrepo told me on Wednesday afternoon. "The guy is a complete baller on the field, but let alone that, he treats his profession the best I've ever seen. Me and him are in the building at five o'clock every single morning before the janitors get there."

Restrepo went on to say that Ward is "a super respectful guy. Super down to earth and humble guy. He has great spirit, is a man of faith, and is just as consistent as it gets."

Cam Ward's Leadership

When asked why the Titans should take Ward with the 1st overall pick, tight end Elijah Arroyo responded with a very simple "Why shouldn't they? That's really the biggest question."

Arroyo said that Ward is an exceptional leader and "one of those guys that everybody is going to listen to. He's not scared to hold people accountable."

Ward used to call his Miami teammates and set times for the wide receivers, tight ends, and quarterbacks to watch film together. "If you're not there, he was going to FaceTime you," said Arroyo. Ward instantly brought culture and accountability to Miami. It resulted in the Hurricanes winning double-digit games for just the second time since 2003 (2017).

While Titans brass has not had the chance to sit down with Ward yet, they did meet with Miami head coach Mario Cristobal during Senior Bowl practices. One would assume he told them many of the same things Restrepo and Arroyo told me.

Only time will tell if the Titans agree with the rave reviews Hurricanes players are giving about their quarterback. And even if they do, how does it stack up to their assessment of Shedeur Sanders, Travis Hunter, or Abdul Carter?
