The Tennessee Titans have the first overall waiver claim spot, which they will hold for the first three weeks of the season. Wednesday was the first opportunity for teams to claim non-vested players who were cut at Tuesday’s 53-man roster cutdown deadline, and Tennessee claimed four. Here’s a rundown on the newcomers:
Wednesday Waiver Claims
- CB Jalyn Armour-Davis (https://x.com/PaulKuharskyNFL/status/1960742469689082049)
- CB Samuel Womack (https://x.com/PaulKuharskyNFL/status/1960744023389561233)
- LB Dorian Mausi (https://x.com/TomPelissero/status/1960745988953669676)
- DE CJ Ravenell
CB Jalyn Armour-Davis
Armour Davis was cut by the Baltimore Ravens, who drafted him in the 4th Round of the 2022 NFL Draft out of Alabama. This was the most predictable claim of the bunch, as he overlapped with Titans Defensive Coordinator Dennard Wilson in Baltimore when he was their defensive backs coach under Mike Macdonald.
Armour Davis is a prototypical build for Dennard Wilson’s taste at 6’1 197lbs. His 4.39s 40 yard dash speed is enticing too, but his 29th percentile arm length is a drawback. He’s played in 19 games with only 3 starts, tallying just 2 passes defended and 20 career tackles. The biggest reason he hasn’t gotten much of a foothold is probably due to his four IR stinks in three years. He joins a CB room now 7 deep, including the next guy on this list.
CB Samuel Womack
Samuel Womack is a three year veteran 5th Round pick, who spent his first two seasons with the San Francisco 49ers before being claimed by the Indianapolis Colts in 2024. He’s played in 40 games with 9 starts, 8 of them as a Colt last year. Injuries thrust him into a starter role much more than Indy expected, and he handled himself surprisingly well.
Womack tallied 2 interceptions and 9 passes defended last year, as well as 36 tackles in 2024. One of those interceptions was off Titans QB Mason Rudolph. At 5’10 189lbs, he’s a smaller cornerback. But he allowed less than 400 yards on the 44 passes thrown his way, holding opposing QBs to a 61% completion percentage when targeting him.
CB Gabe Jeudy Lally was waived by the team in a corresponding move, putting the Titans CB room at 7 total.
LB Dorian Mausi
Dorian Mausi was a UDFA rookie for the Vikings, who the Titans saw up close and personal in their final preseason game this month. The sell on him is simple: special teams. He played 4 years at Duke before finishing his college career at Auburn, tallying a career 273 tackles. He led the Tigers with 81 tackles last season. He bumps LB Curtis Jacobs off the active roster to become LB4.
DE CJ Ravenell
And finally, one more former Raven joins the Titans. CJ Ravenell recorded 7 pressures this preseason after being signed as an undrafted rookie by Baltimore out of Missouri Western in 2024. He was on the Ravens practice squad last season. He’s 6’5 300lbs, which projects more on the inside than the outside of the defensive line.
