Titans defense gets a second chance to prove Packers game was an outlier on Monday Night Football

The Tennessee Titans defensive gameplan against the Packers didn't exactly go to plan.
But according to the players and coaches, the plan itself wasn't a bad one. They just didn't execute.
Tackling!
"I think it's all about execution in our eyes. And tackling!" Said Defensive Coordinator Dennard Wilson on Thursday. In reflecting on their Week 3 embarrassment against Malik Willis, Titans star DL Jeffery Simmons agreed with his coach:
"Take away the missed tackles, I think they had, what? 118 yards off of missed tackles. I think when you go back and watch that game, if you, even with Malik, we missed tackles like three times against him and he had an explosive run. Or maybe the rush lanes just weren't there… I think we just have to do a better job of a couple things."
Simmons said when the defense sat down to review what went wrong as a team, it was clear. "Dennard put the plays up there on tape, just every play was a different guy. We as a defense understand that and we see that. If we all just do our job and get on the same page, those plays don't happen. Like I said, a lot of it was just missed tackles."
A Unique Do-Over Opportunity
Who the Titans will actually be facing at QB in Miami is still very much up in the air. The likely choice will be Snoop Huntley, and Simmons said that he expects their offensive gameplan with him to look a lot like what they saw from Green Bay.
Dennard Wilson explained why he agrees:
"I'm not going to tell you our strategy on how we're going to try to defend these guys. You got to understand, it's really… it's the same conceptual offense. They just do it a little bit different. And two head coaches we faced last week and this week, they worked together for a long time. So it's about us correcting the mistakes that we had. Because in this league when you make mistakes, they show back up."
Matt LaFleur and Mike McDaniel were both a part of the fabled Washington coaching staff that included Kyle Shanahan and Sean McVay. All four coaches run similar offenses, that have largely taken over the league for their QB friendliness and constant innovations.
If the gameplan McDaniel rolls out with his backup QB situation Monday looks anything like what LaFleur did with Malik, we'll see how much was on execution and how much was a flawed approach.
Titans’ patience to stick with Will Levis over Mason Rudolph could set the franchise up for a win-win scenario
The Titans should not, under any circumstances, bench a healthy Will Levis in 2024. He should play all 17 games as long as he is physically able to do so.
Bill Callahan is under even more pressure than he already was to fix what seems like an unfixable problem
It’s on Bill and Brian Callahan to show that they can make this line work, and to show signs of progress soon.
