NASHVILLE – We are still months away from the 2025 NFL Draft, but that hasn't stoped the NFL world from speculating about what the Tennessee Titans might do with the 1st overall pick in the draft.
Tennessee is considering trading away the pick to gain future draft assets. That would go a long way towards helping GM Mike Borgonzi implement his "draft and develop" strategy. Who wouldn't want as many picks as possible after seeing the Philadelphia Eagles win Super Bowl LIX using that very philosophy?
But as we've also heard from President of Football Operations Chad Brinker, the Titans are not in the business of passing up generational talents. "I mean, you can't pass up on a generational talent. We won't do that," said Brinker during a private media session a few weeks ago.
The Titans also have a glaring need at quarterback. Replacing Will Levis feels inevitable at this point and it is the elephant in the room. As good as trading back might sound, as enticing as Travis Hunter's unique abilities might be, Tennessee also needs to figure out what the future looks like at QB. Ultimately, I think that's what the fans want too.
Titans fans will be happy to know that the current betting odds for the first overall pick are predicting Tennessee's front office to deliver a flashy QB prospect that the city of Nashville can rally behind. Miami QB Cam Ward is the runaway favorite with odds of -120 to be the first player off the board (via FanDuel).

Cam Ward: -120
Abdul Carter: +200
Travis Hunter: +400
Shedeur Sander: +600
According to oddsmakers, Tennessee is also expected to hold onto their pick. The Titans are -164 to select No. 1 overall in the draft. The New York Giants (+225) have the next best odds and are seen as the most likely team to trade up.
Moving back with New York wouldn't be a bad move for the Titans. It would bring in some additional draft picks and still give them a chance to land a top talent like Abdul Carter, Travis Hunter, or maybe even a quarterback that is still on the board. But obviously Tennessee would only do that if they determined neither quarterback to be the answer for them moving froward. It would not be worth risking missing out on your guy.
I think if you were to poll Titans fans right now, a majority of them would prefer Tennessee to stay put and go in on a quarterback. Fans need something to get excited about, and if we are to believe that Vegas is sharp this far out of the NFL Draft, the Titans are about to get it in Cam Ward.
