Titans executive disputes report that QB Will Levis is the subject of trade rumors at NFL Owners Meetings
But…it’s still more likely than not
PALM BEACH — Tennessee Titans President of Football Operations Chad Brinker is in attendance for the NFL's Annual Meeting in Palm Beach, Florida this week. Among the subjects that are being discussed, a potential trade of quarterback Will Levis is currently being refuted.
Still, trading the 2023 second-round pick out of Kentucky is the best possible outcome.
Chad Brinker disputes Will Levis – Titans trade rumors
Levis should be moved no later than the start of the 2025 NFL regular season, even if Tennessee is not yet engaged in trade talks around him.
"That's a false report," Brinker told Jim Wyatt of TennesseeTitans.com on Sunday. "We have not contacted anybody, and nobody has contacted us about Will Levis. I don't think anything has changed from the time somebody asked me about this a month ago."
Keeping Levis to compete with current reserves Brandon Allen and Tim Boyle, who signed with the Titans this month, makes sense.
Tennessee is also in possession of the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. All signs point to Brinker and Co. drafting Miami quarterback Cam Ward with the top spot as the franchise's future at the position. Levis, who crashed out spectacularly and was benched in 2024 under first-year coach Brian Callahan, is no longer viable as a starter with the team that drafted him.
The proper approach to the Titans current hypothetical quarterback room is to draft Ward, let the three others compete behind him, and trade Levis before roster cut-downs take place this summer.
A fresh start makes sense for both sides in this scenario. And, while teams may not be calling Tennessee about Levis now, post-draft makes sense for some interest in him once clubs fill out their immediate needs. Levis, 25, is still on a rookie deal and makes sense for another franchise to add into the mix if they are dissatisfied with late-round draft options or the remaining free agents available to sign.
