The Tennessee Titans had a bad first half in Week 3, hosting the Indianapolis Colts. Things started poorly when rookie QB Cam Ward’s second pass attempt was an ugly pick-six thrown directly to Colts defender Kenny Moore.

They stayed ugly when the penalty bug continued to plague them in backbreaking spots, and the offense couldn’t stay ahead of the sticks to save its life. And they ended horridly when Brian Callahan and the Titans coaching staff completely bungled an end-of-half sequence that led to free Colts’ points. That’s when controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk came out onto the field, and her reception wasn’t exactly a warm one.

Amy Adams Strunk, Titans Leadership Booed At Halftime

The Titans’ end of the half was atrocious. They had the ball with time dwindling, driving to get some last-minute points down 17-6. Around midfield, they ran on third and 2 and gained a single yard. On fourth down, the Colts called a timeout to stop the clock.

That wasn’t enough time for the Titans to get their act together, apparently, who then burned a timeout of their own. After double timeouts, they rolled out the kicking unit to attempt a 57-yarder. That act of cowardice was then backed up five yards for a delay of the game, because the kicker’s ball wasn’t in the field of play. So, they attempted a 62-yarder and missed. This gave the Colts the ball back to gain some yards and comfortably grab a field goal before half, enjoying a 20-6 halftime lead.

Bad, bad, bad. And, might I add, bad. The fans in Nissan Stadium clearly agreed, letting the team hear it on their way into the tunnel. One source in attendance told me that Jeffery Simmons was jawing back at the fans booing them on the way to the locker room.

Then, in an awkward bit of timing, this week was the induction ceremony for legendary Titans broadcaster Mike Keith into the franchise’s ring of honor.

He came out onto the field accompanied by family and Titans dignitaries, amidst the stadium’s groan fest. Owner Amy Adams Strunk was in the gaggle, but did not speak. Team President Burke Nihill gave brief opening remarks, and fans attempted to drown him out with boos and chants of “Fire Callahan.”

How unfair for Mike Keith, who gave his all to this franchise since it first came to Nashville, to have his storybook moment painted over by a team battling total dysfunction. Thankfully, when he addressed the crowd, he got the biggest pop of the day from the fans.

If Amy Adams Strunk’s history is any indication, this won’t be a moment she forgets anytime soon. It can’t be anything helpful for the security of anybody she employs.
