Predicting which veteran wide receivers will end up signing with the Tennessee Titans in free agency and help fix the offense
One of these veteran wide receivers is going to sign with the Titans.
NASHVILLE – The NFL's legal tampering window will open on Monday afternoon adn the race will be on for all 32 teams to reach deals with free agents.
The Tennessee Titans have said that they are going to be "more selective" in free agency under new GM Mike Borgonzi, but given their plethora of needs, I'd still expect Tennessee to be somewhat active this week.
One of the positions we can be certain the Titans will address in free agency is wide receiver. Tennessee's 2025 receiving corps is currently Calvin Ridley and a lot of unproven talent/practice squad players. When I spoke to head coach Brian Callahan at the NFL Combine and asked him what kind of receivers he was looking to add in free agency, he simply told me "more," proving just how large of a need it is.
But what's actually realistic for Tennessee? I don't expect them to play in the deep end of the pool and make a run at Chris Godwin. Someone like Keenan Allen might be a bit too old for the Titans, so he's probably out. After diving into the team's needs, roster construction, and conservative free agency approach, I have closed in on three veteran wide receiver options for the Titans to target in free agency. I believe at least one of them will sign with the team this offseason.
Dyami Brown
Dyami Brown spent the first 3.5 years of his career as nothing more than a role player in Washington, but a strong back half of the 2024 season and meaningful postseason contributions has him on the radar of a lot of teams in free agency.
In his final five regular season games of 2024, Brown had 16 catches and 159 receiving yards. But he really emerged as a rising star for the Commanders' playoff run.
Brown had 14 catches, 229 receiving yards, and one touchdown in three playoff games. He was the Commanders' leading receiver in both of their playoff wins.
For a team like the Titans, Brown could be a really intriguing fit. A lot of teams are looking at him as an intriguing game with fun upside. Tennessee has limited expectations as far as competing in 2025 are concerned, but could offer Brown a chance to play consistent snaps across from Calvin Ridley.
Projected Contract: One-year, $2 million
Josh Palmer
Former Tennessee Volunteers star Josh Palmer is an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his NFL career after four seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers.
Palmer has always shown intriguing upside in LA, but was consistently held back in his younger years by more proven options getting the lion's share of targets in Keenan Allen and Mike Williams.
With 2,287 career receiving yards and 39.4 yards per game for his career, nobody would expect Palmer to suddenly break out as a 1,000-yard guy. But he's pro and a massive upgrade over the Titans' current roster., He can also win on just about any intermediate or deep route and makes contested catches down the field. That would be valuable to help stretch the field regardless of who is at QB in Tennessee.
Projected Contract: Three-year, $12.8 million
Van Jefferson
Brentwood native Van Jefferson would be another discount option for the Titans that I think falls within their price range. It would come with no risk to Tennessee and would give Jefferson a chance to play after a discouraging year in Pittsburgh.
Jefferson started 17 games for the Steelers during the 2024 season and caught 24 passes on 40 targets totaling 276 yards.
Jefferson was at his best with the Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams in 2021 when he had 50 catches for 802 yards on the season. But over the last two years, we have seen Jefferson play for three different teams and learned that he is not WR2 caliber.
But could he be WR3 or WR4 caliber? For the Titans, who have almost nobody at the position, absolutely. He's a hometown that would come on a cheap contract with some experience on the NFL's biggest stage. Would be worth a flyer.
Projected Contract: One-year, $2 million
