The Derrick Henry era in Nashville officially came to an end this week after the former Tennessee Titans running back signed with the Baltimore Ravens.
Henry agreed to a two year deal with the Ravens worth $16 million.
Titans general manager Ran Carthon joined 104.5 The Zone's Ramon, Kayla, and Will on Friday and he was asked whether or not he made an effort to bring Henry back to Nashville.
Carthon suggested that it was time for both sides to move on.
"Just like everyone else in this city has love for Derrick, I think we all in this building do [too]," said Carthon. "But I think it was just one of those times where I think it was just best for everybody to just proceed forward. I think the world of Derrick. Derrick's been a consummate pro…getting to know him. And not to mention, he's a Florida boy (Henry is from the Jacksonville area and Carthon is from Key West). I don't know much you guys know about the Florida connection, but that's a real thing."
It sounds like the Titans never had any real intentions of re-signing Henry. But that was fully expected. Henry is inching closer to the end of his career and the Titans are entering a new era of the franchise. It was just time to start fresh. Henry landed in a great situation in Baltimore and the Titans found a solid running back in Tony Pollard. It was a win/win for both sides.
