How Jeffery Simmons' contract price for the Titans just completely changed
Game changer for the Titans and one of their best players.
The Tennessee Titans' biggest decision for this off-season may be how they handle the future of defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons. That situation just got a bit more interesting. It wasn't because of actions by the Titans or Simmons, either.
Instead, the Washington Commanders just set the market price to re-sign an impact defensive lineman during this off-season. They are signing Daron Payne to a four-year, $90 million deal.
The Titans now have a ballpark for an extension for Simmons.
The Titans defender has been one of the best defensive lineman in the NFL. Payne has been great for Washington, but there's an argument that Simmons will cost even more to extend. Both players are 25 years old. They provide different skillsets, though.
Payne has totaled 22 sacks in his career. Simmons has 21 in one less season. Both are talented run defenders that can be game-changing for their defense.
These deals are going to keep rolling in around the NFL, so the Titans must make a move quickly if they want to beat most of the market.
Regardless, they now have an idea of the range of money that Simmons will expect in a new deal. He will deserve every penny as one of the best DL players in the entire league.
