NASHVILLE – In case you haven't already figured it out, the NFL Pro Bowl is a joke. The league allows fan voting to contribute to the selection of the rosters and then puts the accolade on a pedestal as a career achievement or boost to a Hall of Fame resumé.

It used to mean something, but it's impossible to give credence to a Pro Bowl nod nowadays when players like quarterback Tyler Huntley can be named Pro Bowlers in a season where he threw…*checks notes*…two touchdown passes? Nothing like an undrafted quarterback throwing two touchdowns and three interceptions being given the same recognition for his season as Josh Allen and Joe Burrow.

The NFL is back at it again, because in the latest update for the 2024 Pro Bowl voting, Tennessee Titans return specialist Jha'Quan Jackson is the leading vote getter in the AFC for returners.

In case you don't understand why that's significant, Jackson was benched in Tennessee's game against the Washington Commanders on Sunday after fumbling a kick return. It was his 5th fumble of the season.

Not only has Jackson had issues with ball security, there really haven't been many positives to give the Titans incentive to keep him in the role. He has not had any explosive returns and makes questionable decisions fielding punts close to the goal line.

Of all qualified kick returners, Jackson is second to last in average return yards (25.75) and dead last in longest return (34).

Tyjae Spears and Julius Chestnut are logical choices to replace Jackson as kick returners. As for punts, Titans head coach Brian Callahan said on Monday that "everything is on the table" when it comes to finding a new punt returner. Mason Kinsey is probably the most likely in-house option.

But alas, this is our current leading AFC return man in Pro Bowl votes. My guess would be that the alumni base of Tulane are responsible for this. I don't think Titans fans are all that happy with Jackson at the moment . The Green Wave have clearly flooded the polls and boosted Jackson above other unknown returners in the AFC.

It's a perfect example of why the current system is flawed and Pro Bowl "honors" are not taken seriously anymore.
