NASHVILLE – With the Tennessee Titans sitting on the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the rumors are already beginning to spread about the organization's view of the top quarterback prospects in this year's draft class.

Colorado's Shedeur Sanders and Miami's Cam Ward are the undisputed top two QB talents of the incoming rookie class. There is much debate about which one should be selected first in the 2025 NFL Draft, therefore causing somewhat of a rivalry between two factions of fans and media members.

We've got reports coming from Pete Thamel and others at the Senior Bowl that Cam Ward is "likely to be the No. 1 pick" in the draft. Kurt Benkert is on X posting that "people inside the Titans organization believe he can elevate them to a new level."

Then we have folks who read Turron Davenport's excellent interview with Titans head coach Brian Callahan and take it as Tennessee telegraphing their next move. Callahan compared Sanders to Joe Burrow and now it's a "lock" that he's headed to Nashville.

Which QB the Titans like more

So which is it? Which quarterback do the Titans prefer? The very simply, and honest answer is….We don't know yet. And we don't know yet because they don't know yet.

I spoke with both Brian Callahan and GM Mike Borgonzi at the Senior Bowl this week, and while both men seemed impressed by Sanders and intrigued by Ward, their evaluation process is nowhere near complete.

The Titans have not seen Sanders throw or workout in person yet. They only spoke to him briefly at the Shrine Bowl after he opted out of the practices. Tennessee hasn't even been able to meet Ward yet, let alone put together a final eval. Ward initially accepted an invite to the Senior Bowl, but ended up pulling out.

There is still over a month until Cam Ward's Pro Day at Miami. Top 30 visits are always a formative part of the pre-draft process as well. We need to be smarter than this. Surely we can't be thinking that the Titans already know what they're doing at 1:1 when they are still hiring executives to the front office, right? At the very least, how about we let Borgonzi get settled into his new role before we make assumptions about where his head is at?

I like to refer to this time of year as "lying season" around the NFL. There is so much misinformation being spread. Some of it comes from teams. Some of it comes from agents. Some of it comes from losers online who don't know what they're talking about, but can farm engagement from excited NFL fans.

It's important we all pay attention to who is making all of these ascertations about the Titans' draft plans with so much information still outstanding. These people are outing themselves as individuals who are not reliable and should not be listened to.

I prefer Sanders to Ward for what the Titans offense needs. If it was me making the pick, that's probably the direction I would go. I think, when it is all said and done, Brian Callahan will feel the same way. Actually, no. If I truly had to make a prediction now, I'd say the Titans go with neither QB and end up trading out of the 1st overall pick. But either way, there's a big difference between sharing an opinion and sharing an opinion as an uninformed scoop.

Chasing inside information for what the Titans are going to do with No. 1 at this juncture is like a dog chasing it's own tail. Save your energy and wait for Tennessee to gather more data points.
