NASHVILLE – Tennessee Titans right tackle Nicholas Petit-Frere has found himself in hot water recently for more reasons that one.
The former third-round draft pick had a rough outing agains the New York Jets on Sunday, allowing nine pressures in the game according to PFF. Just days later, Petit-Frere was announced as a "Fantasy Expert" for Fantasy Life.
Not great optics for the 25-year-old offensive tackle that was suspended by the NFL for violating the league's policy against gambling in 2023. Even worse timing for the announcement after Sunday's performance.
Petit-Frere was in the Titans locker room after practice on Thursday and addressed his newest off-field venture for the first time.
"It's a cool opportunity I got. Timing was whatever…but it's a great opportunity for me to bring the game to more people," said NPF. "Fantasy football is a great thing to get the fans involved."
NPF talked about all the ways fantasy football can help connect fans to the NFL, can bring in new fans, and even help people maintain personal relationships. Petit-Frere is still the commissioner of a fantasy football league he has with some friends from college. He says the league has always helped him stay in contact with those buddies.
But make no mistake about it. Football comes first for Petit-Frere. He made that abundantly clear on Thursday.
"The main thing is the main thing which is I'm trying to be the best tackle I can be here. I'm trying to play football. I'm trying to be tough. That's something I didn't do last Sunday and I need to improve on it and show I can do it this Sunday," he said.
I thought Petit-Frere handled himself very well. His answer was a good one…something most people can probably empathize with. Does it make his decision to do the fantasy football thing better? Not really.
But does it really matter at the end of the day? Not really…It's bad optics but shouldn't impact his play on the field. NPF has always been a self-motivated player that prepares well. That's not changing anytime soon.
Hopefully Petit-Frere bounces back on Sunday and pressure is limited for Will Levis. That would go a long way to helping Tennessee get the first win of 2-24 out of the way.

The stats are getting unbelievable.
