NASHVILLE — As the NFL’s trade deadline approaches on October 31, the Tennessee Titans (2-4) are looking more and more like sellers. The idea of moving star players for draft capital is not something that Tennessee is above.

The question is: do the titans have anything actually worth buying?

Former All-Pro running back Derrick Henry has been a popular name in trade speculation over the course of his team’s Week 7 bye. The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reported on Saturday that she had yet to find “a team showing significant interest in Derrick Henry, sources around the league tell me Tennessee has received calls about safety Kevin Byard, and one team reached out about wide receiver Treylon Burks.”

Put more bluntly, the Titans have yet to receive a call regarding an offer for Henry.

It is highly unlikely that first-year GM Ran Carthon would move Henry if an offer existed. Depth behind the 2020 NFL Offensive Player of the Year is basically limited to rookie Tyjae Spears at this point. The third-round pick out of Tulane is currently the only other running back listed on the team’s active roster. Both Hassan Haskins and Julius Chestnut are currently on Injured Reserve.

“I think we would always consider trying to strengthen the team,” coach Mike Vrabel said last Monday. “Whether that's right now, this week or in the future. Absolutely.”

Tennessee has not openly put a “for sale” sign on its roster just yet, but isn’t actively discouraging interest in its players either.

The Titans host the Atlanta Falcons (4-3) on Sunday, Oct. 29 at Nissan Stadium. How the results of that game impact Carthon and Vrabel’s personnel decisions remain to be seen.
