NASHVILLE – Mike Vrabel has officially been announced as the 16th head coach of the New England Patriots after spending six seasons with the Tennessee Titans.
Vrabel was fired by Tennessee after a 6-11 finish in 2023 despite clinching three consecutive playoff births and an making appearance in the AFC Championship Game.
All eyes will be on Vrabel when he makes his return to Nashville in 2025 and tries to get revenge against his former team. The Patriots are going to be traveling to Music City to battle the Titans at Nissan Stadium next season at some point and the NFL has only one option.
We need Patriots @ Titans to be our season opener. I want a Week 1 revenge game in the mid-afternoon slate…maybe even on Sunday Night Football.
Vrabel's return to Tennessee will be even better if there is more at stake. The game becomes far less exciting if it's the 3-6 Patriots taking on the 3-7 Titans next season. If you wait until later in the year, that's a risk.
I want two teams with an entire schedule in front of them. A world of endless possibilities for what the season could hold. I want second-year Drake Maye on one sideline, looking to get his sophomore campaign off on a good note and establish himself and one of the best young quarterbacks in the sport.
On the other sideline, I want Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward ready to make an NFL debut and put the league on notice. That's a storyline fit for a primetime slot in Week 1.
The Titans have not opened a season at home since 2022. They are due to play in Nashville in Week 1 against an opponent outside of the division. This is a no-brainer for the NFL schedule makers.
