Titans rookie Chimere Dike is racking up accolades and trending from team bright spot to All-Pro and Pro Bowl consideration
The Titans rookie is off to a perfect start
The Tennessee Titans don’t have a ton to be truly excited about these days. Sure, they just got their first win, but their road to true relevance still looks long and difficult. What’s delivered the most consistent optimism this season has been the youth of this roster, green and inexperienced as they might be. And one of their Fourth Round rookies has been truly transformational in his role so far, earning league-wide recognition this week as he continues to impress his coaches and fans alike. His name is Chimere Dike, and he was just named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week for Week 5.
Chimere Dike Is Leading His Peers In More Ways Than One
Dike is a rookie receiver out of Florida who wasn’t on many people’s radar when the Titans selected him with the first pick on Day 3 of the draft back in April, 103rd overall. He wasn’t really a huge factor throughout the summer months either, as he was a surprise winner of both the starting kick and punt returner jobs when the team made their initial 53-man roster cutdown.
Since getting those nods, everything has come up aces for Dike. He’s handled his primary job as the Titans’ dual returner with ease, making no mistakes through five weeks (knock on wood) and bringing juice to the returner positions that this franchise hasn’t had in years. He’s the first rookie of 2025 to get the Special Teams Player of the Year honor, and the first Titan since 2012. His coordinator John Fassel and his Head Coach Brian Callahan can’t say enough nice things about him. Every time we ask this coaching staff about his performance, the answer is in line with what Brian Callahan said at the end of September: “Chim (Dike) has been phenomenal in all the things that we’ve asked him to do as a returner, in the run game, and as a receiver.”
In Week 5, Dike returned three punts for 33 yards and four kickoffs for 136 yards. One of the kick returns went for 65 yards, his second longest return of the young season. That return put him in the NFL’s top 5 longest kick returns of 2025 list twice: 71 yards at Denver (2nd), and 65 yards at Arizona (4th).
Through five weeks, Dike has 783 total yards from scrimmage, which leads the entire NFL by over 100 yards. 82 of those yards are from punt returns (13.7 avg), 35yds are from rushing and receiving (roles he’s recently getting more involved in), and 666yds are from kick returns (26.6 avg). His kick return yardage is also the most in the league, which is no surprise for the returner on the Titans. Plenty of opportunities to return kicks when your opponent is scoring a lot of points!
All cynicism aside, Dike’s start to the season has him on pace to be in serious consideration for specials teams Pro Bowl and All-Pro consideration. To be able to say that about a Titans return specialist still feels wrong, but it’s true.
