Tennessee Titans and general manager Ran Carton shocked the NFL world when they signed former Jacksonville Jaguars and Atlanta Falcons star wide receiver Calvin Ridley on Wednesday afternoon. Rumors had been swirling that he was heavily linked to two teams and the Titans weren't one of them. Insiders around the league thought that he was either going to be returning to the Jaguars or signing with the Patriots.

Not so fast.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com the Titans are signing Calving Ridley to a four-year $92 million dollar contract with $50 million in guarantees.

Calvin Ridley is fresh off a 1000-yard season for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Ridley had two of his best games in 2023 against the Tennessee Titans last season, eclipsing over 100 receiving yards and finding the end zone in both contests.

The Titans new head coach Brian Callahan had made it clear that the team would be looking for some difference makers in the receiving game. He went as far as to suggest that they would probably prefer a playmaker over an offensive lineman at pick seven in the NFL Draft when he spoke to reporters at the NFL Combine.

Calvin Ridley turns 30 in December, giving the Titans one of the older starting receiver duos in the league as he pairs up with future Hall of Famer Deandre Hopkins. However, both of these long-time studs seem to have plenty left in the tank. If the Titans end up drafting another wide receiver at pick seven in the NFL Draft they could quickly go from one of the worst wide receiver group in the league to one of the absolute best. Even if they don't Ridley gives the Titans a huge boost to help build around their young quarterback, Will Levis!
