NASHVILLE – It's trade deadline day around the NFL. With deals being made left and right, there are still a ton of possibilities for the Tennessee Titans (2-6).
The Titans got ahead of the market and made a pair of trades a few weeks back. But with more veteran talent on the roster and expiring contracts still on the books, Tennessee will definitely be fielding calls today and looking to add draft picks.
Here's your updated look at everything the Titans have done at the NFL trade deadline and moves around the league that will have an impact on Tennessee:
Titans Trades
– On October 23rd, the Titans traded wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins to the Kansas City Chiefs for a fifth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft that can conditionally become a fourth-round pick.
– On October 23rd, the Titans traded linebacker Ernest Jones IV to the Seattle Seahawks for linebacker Jerome Baker and a 2025 fourth-round pick. Tennessee originally acquired Jones from the LA Rams back in August, receiving Jones and a 2026 sixth-round draft pick in exchange for a 2026 fifth-rounder
Titans getting offers for defensive players
According to a report from Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the Tennessee Titans have received inquiries and offers from teams about Arden Key and Sebastian Joseph-Day. Both will be players to watch as the day unfolds and deadline gets closer.
Joseph-Day is playing on an expiring contract. Tennessee brought him in for one year and $4 million in the offseason.
While Key still has contract control through 2025, his base salary is set to increase to $6.5 million next season. With that money not being guaranteed, he's a candidate to be cut for cap flexibility. If the Titans don't foresee themselves paying Key that money next season, he could get you something of value in a trade.
Dianna Russini's latest update also included defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons as a player that the Titans have received calls on. No surprise there. It is unlikely that Tennessee would move Simmons, but if someone steps up with an unbelievable offers as the deadline approaches, nothing should be off the table for this front office.
Lions get a pass rusher
After losing star defensive end Aidan Hutchinson for the season, the Detroit Lions (7-1) have seemed like a perfect fit to acquire a pass rusher at the NFL trade deadline.
With Tennessee potentially shopping both Arden Key and Harold Landry III, Detroit was a destination that made a lot of sense. Key even put on a clinic in his audition for the Lions by recording two sacks, three QB hits, a forced fumble, and a career-high in tackles against them in Week 8.
But early Tuesday morning, Detroit agreed to a deal with the Cleveland Browns for edge rusher Za'Darius Smith. It’s Smith and a 2026 seventh-round draft pick going to Detroit for a 2025 fifth-round pick and a 2026 sixth-rounder.
Smith and Key are similar in production this season with a similar contract situation moving froward. Had the Titans landed the same return for Key, I think it would be a trade worth celebrating for Titans fans. But Tennessee will now need to look elsewhere if they are going to deal one of their pass rushers before the deadline.
Cowboys add at WR
The Dallas Cowboys made it known publicly that they would be looking at add a wide receiver before the trade deadline.
While it always seemed like a long shot, Titans WR Treylon Burks was one of the names being brought up frequently. Burks has been on injured Reserve for the last four weeks, but could be ready to play soon if a contending team wants to take a flyer on him.
The Titans also have veteran wide receiver Tyler Boyd on an expiring contract. He's another guy I think could be traded away if Tennessee has a buyer. But it won't be Dallas. The Cowboys found their guy, acquiring second-year wide out Jonathon Mingo from the Carolina Panthers.
DeAndre Hopkins “honors” Titans after his first touchdown with the Kansas City Chiefs
NASHVILLE — Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins scored his first touchdown with his new team on Monday Night Football and gave a subtle shoutout to the Tennessee Titans in the aftermath. Late in the second quarter of Monday’s primetime matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Arrowhead Stadium, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes connected […]
