NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Titans officially announced the hiring of Brian Callahan as the team’s next head coach on Wednesday and have already been fully endorsed by Tennessee Volunteers legendary QB Peyton Manning.

Prior to Callahan’s tenure as offensive coordinator to the Cincinnati Bengals, he spent time with the Oakland Raiders, Detroit Lions, and Denver Broncos.

With Denver, Callahan worked with Manning for four seasons (2012-2015) as an offensive quality control coach and offensive assistant. Denver won the Super Bowl and Manning was named NFL MVP while Callahan was on the Broncos’ offensive staff.

According to Jim Wyatt of TennesseeTitans.com, Manning approves of the Titans’ new head coach.

"I'm very happy for Brian," Manning told Wyatt. "Brian was extremely helpful to me during my four years playing for the Broncos, when he and I were together. Extremely hard working, extremely intelligent and just overall a great person. Not only did I benefit from his coaching and all the help that he gave me as a quarterback for the Broncos, but also just thoroughly enjoyed being around him and coming to work every day. The quarterback room is a small room, and you've got three quarterbacks and usually two coaches in there. So, Brian and I spent a lot of time in those quarterback meetings. So just enjoyed being around him. So very happy for him getting this opportunity. I think it's a great hire for the Tennessee Titans. I know he'll give the Titans everything he has."

That’s about as strong of an endorsement as you can have…and it comes from one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time.

Manning is not alone in his praise of Callahan. Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford worked with Callahan in Detroit from 2016-2017. Callahan was the quarterbacks coach at the time, and Stafford posted a QBR of 65.2 in both of those seasons. At that time, those were the best years of his NFL career.

When Stafford went up against Callahan’s Bengals in Super Bowl LVI back in February of 2022, the veteran quarterback talked highly of his former quarterbacks coach. "Cally is a special guy, was a great coach for me. Unbelievable coach, special person," Stafford said of Callahan.

Endorsements like these are why I'm most excited for what Callahan can bring to the Titans as head coach. It's no secret that Tennessee has been behind the curve when it comes to innovating offensive strategy and prioritizing the passing game. With a young and promising quarterback like Will Levis on the roster, I'm optimistic that Callahan will be able to help Levis elevate his game and get the most out of him.

Not only has Callahan been credited with building and innovating one of the best offenses in the NFL in Cincinnati, he has an impressive background working closely with Hall of Fame (or future Hall of Fame) quarterbacks that swear by him.

Things are looking up in Nashville. If you don't believe me, believe Tennessee Vols legend Peyton Manning.
