NASHVILLE – Tennessee Titans quarterback Will Levis was sidelined in the first quarter of Monday night's victory against the Miami Dolphins.
Levis left the game with an apparent shoulder injury after diving to reach the first down marker. Despite standing on the sidelines with a helmet on and warming up numerous times, he never returned to action.
Mason Rudolph stepped in to replace Levis and managed the game well. Rudolph helped the Titans offense eclipse 30 points for the first time in over 1,000 days.
Titans head coach Brian Callahan remains committed to Levis as the team's starting quarterback provided the second-year QB is healthy…But that's not a guarantee, even with a bye week coming up.
Levis is expected to have an MRI this week what is believed to be an AC joint issue. The hope is that it's nothing long-term, but Callahan did say that Levis' shoulder "didn't feel great" during those sideline throws. Callahan chose to protect Levis instead of putting him back in on Monday night. There's a chance the Titans choose to do that again if Levis doesn't get back to full strength.
This is a situation worth monitoring on the other side of the bye week for Titans fans. But make no mistake about it. If healthy, Levis is the Titans' starting quarterback.
