NASHVILLE – The Tennessee Titans (0-2) were one play away from tying the game and forcing overtime against the New York Jets (1-1) on Sunday afternoon. But instead of coming through in the game's final moments, Titans quarterback Will Levis missed his window of opportunity and Tennessee lost by final score of 24-17.
As if Titans fans weren't frustrated enough, a video breakdown from the end of the game makes the loss sting just a bit more.
NFL analyst and former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky pointed out the moment Will Levis should have delivered a game-tying touchdown for the Titans.
On 1st & Goal from the 10-yard line, Levis had wide receiver Calvin Ridley come wide open across the middle of the field with plenty of space to fit in a game-tying score. Levis just didn't see it and scrambled for two yards on the play. The Titans would lose after a turnover on downs just a few plays later.
The most obvious concerns through two games are the reckless turnovers from Levis, who said he is trying to "rewire his brain" to make less careless decisions. That's the priority right now…but as Orlovsky pointed out, you'd love to see Levis make this play. It's something the good NFL quarterbacks do.
Levis is still learning and growing. He has now started just 11 games in his NFL career. But that's not particularly comforting for Titans fans who had high expectations for this year's team and for Levis to be a franchise quarterback.
