NASHVILLE – The Tennessee Titans did not come away from Thursday night's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers with a victory, but Titans’ rookie quarterback Will Levis is coming away from the game with some rave reviews.

The deck was stacked against Levis on Thursday Night Football. Rookie quarterbacks rarely ever win in Pittsburgh and Tennessee’s offensive line was both ineffective and banged up.

But Levis’ gutsy performance kept the Titans in the game and showed some really promising flashes. Opposing players took notice. After the game, Steelers superstar T.J. Watt gave Levis a really strong review.

Watt did a postgame interview with the Amazon Prime Thursday Night Football crew and was asked by former NFL quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick about what he saw from Levis in the game.

“A lot of toughness. A guy that’s going to hang in there, take the hits, and deliver some really good passes,” said Watt. “He held onto it a little bit tonight, but he was able to escape with his feet a little bit and extend some plays. I think he’s going to have a good career.”

I think every Titans fan (or objective football fan for that matter) watching the game would agree with Watt here. Levis’ ability to stay poised in the pocket, deliver accurate throws through pressure, and be unfazed while taking a few hits was really impressive. He showed a level of grit on Thursday night that you need from a leader and face of the franchise.

If opposing NFL stars are taking notice, you’d have to think the Titans coaching staff is too. All signs point to Tennessee having found their franchise quarterback. Now it’s on the coaches to announce him as the starter for the remainder of the season.
