NASHVILLE — With the NFL Draft still months away and free agency closed, this may be the worst period of every NFL offseason.
It's the time of hot takes. It's the time of speculation. It's the time of outrageous social media content rightfully triggering football fans everywhere.
Tennessee Titans quarterback Will Levis is the latest to be slandered online in one of the most outrageous graphics I've ever seen. The sports betting platform FanDuel released a "way too early quarterback rankings" for the 2024 season…and somehow ranked Will Levis dead last.
I understand that Will Levis is a relatively polarizing player at this stage in his NFL career. Some people are still not over his college stats at Kentucky and him falling out of the first round in the 2023 NFL Draft.
But after watching Levis have success as a rookie with only one legitimate wide receiver and one of the league's worst offensive lines, how could anyone still question the trajectory he is on? After watching Levis lead the Titans to a 15-point comeback in 2:40 on Monday Night Football in Miami, how could anyone assert that he will be the single worst quarterback in the NFL in 2024?
Bryce Young went 2-14 as a rookie starter with 11 touchdowns and double-digit interceptions. He's still ranked higher than Levis.
Daniel Jones averaged just 150 passing yards per game in 2023, threw two touchdowns, six interceptions, and went 1-5 before getting injured. He's still ranked higher than Levis.
There are five…five rookie quarterbacks, including Michael Penix Jr. and J.J. McCarthy ranked ahead of Levis before they've even taken an NFL snap. If all five rookie quarterbacks in 2024 are going to have better seasons than Will Levis, we're in for the greatest draft class the league has ever seen.
After year one, too many people in the sports world still refuse to put some respect on Levis' name. But there's a reason DeAndre Hopkins and the rest of his Titans teammates love playing alongside him. There's a reason Brian Callahan wanted to become the head coach in Tennessee so badly.
This time next year, I expect Levis to have made a significant jump on graphics like this one.
Will Levis is already making the Titans an NFL hot spot
Everybody wants to work with Will Levis.
