It's the dawn of a new era for the Tennessee Titans, but if there's one that has not changed, it's the level of disrespect shown to the team by the national media.
And the skepticism is understandable with the rough go at things that the Titans have had, finishing out the 2023 season with a lowly overall record of 6-11 that put them at the very bottom of the AFC South division.
There have also been questions surrounding if quarterback Will Levis can ultimately meet the expectations after he completed 58.4% of his passes for 1,808 yards with 8 touchdowns and 4 interceptions.
But Levis and the team are not paying attention to the outside noise or those who are doubting them.
"I don't know. They're not in the building every day with us," Levis said in a radio appearance on 104.5. "They don't see the work we're putting in. They don't see the locker room culture that we're trying to build right now and no one does unless you're there."
Levis says the Titans will simply go about their business of making the necessary improvements, while others can have their own opinions.
"They can think what they think and we're going to do our best and we're going to prepare, regardless of what they think."
In another recent meeting with the media, Levis admitted that he used some of the negativity as bulletin board material, but has moved on from that mindset.
"I used to be someone who would take that stuff and kind of use it to fuel me, but my only source of motivation is internal. I'm not going to let anyone else's opinions define (me). They can say what they want and we're going to go out there on Sundays and do our best."
How he and the team are able to bounce back will be something to watch this season under new head coach Brian Callahan. And the road to doing just that will It will begin when the Titans open the season against the Chicago Bears on Sept. 8.
