Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel told reporters on Tuesday that both Will Levis and Malik Willis will play against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 8 if Ryan Tannehill can't go. Overall, it raised some eyebrows, but it makes sense to force the Falcons into preparing for three different guys heading into Sunday's matchup.
A to Z Sports Nashville's Sam Phalen deduced on his own merit that the Titans will trot out Levis, initially, handing him the first start of his young career:
In my opinion, this points to Will Levis starting the game and handling the vast majority of quarterback duties with some special packages worked into the game plan for Willis to run. I can see a world where Willis runs some RPOs, designed quarterback runs, or even serves as a decoy for a trick play.
If it's not Tannehill, we're going to see both quarterbacks in some capacity. But I have a hard time seeing the Titans playing Levis sporadically throughout the game. If he's out here, I think he's the primary guy. – Sam Phalen, A to Z Sports Nashville
Well, as it turns out, that will be the case, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The veteran reporter tweeted/posted Wednesday morning that the Titans are indeed prepping Levis to start the game:
The Falcons defense won't be an easy test for Levis, especially since he's a rookie. The unit has improved dramatically in defensive coordinator Ryan Nielsen's first year. They've yet to allow more than 24 points in one game, thus far, and they allow the third-fewest yards per game at just a tick over 285 total yards per game.
It'll also be interesting to see the differences -or similarities- in a Levis-led offense compared to a Tannehill-led one. Either way, Sunday's matchup, provided Levis and Willis play, will be an interesting one.

NASHVILLE — As the NFL’s trade deadline approaches on October 31, the Tennessee Titans (2-4) are looking more and more like sellers. The idea of moving star players for draft capital is not something that Tennessee is above. The question is: do the titans have anything actually worth buying? Former All-Pro running back Derrick Henry has […]
