The New Orleans Saints had a big hole to fill during this offseason. Off the edge, they did not get enough pressure last season.
They hope that rookie Isaiah Foskey and developing Payton Turner can improve that this season. That being said, it remains a spot on the roster that could use another veteran presence.
Two free-agent options just came off the board for New Orleans, though. Yannick Ngakoue signed with the Chicago Bears, and Justin Houston is headed to the Carolina Panthers.
The Saints have cap space to make a move. They currently own just under $13 million in space, according to OverTheCap.
Accordingly, adding another impact rusher for depth would be smart. Now, their top remaining options are Robert Quinn, Matthew Ioannidis, and Jadeveon Clowney. The prior two that were recently signed provide more upside than those players at this point in their careers.
Regardless, it will be interesting to see if they make a move. If not, it is a sign of a lot of confidence in Foskey, Turner, and other veteran players like Cameron Jordan and Carl Granderson.
