Which Saints players need to keep their momentum against the Chargers?
A.T. Perry, Wide Receiver
Perry has been a camp standout as a rookie for the Saints. Even though he wasn't taken until day three of this year's NFL draft, his physical traits always projected higher than that. Now, it looks like he has started to put it all together with New Orleans.
He dominated in last week's win versus the Kansas City Chiefs, totaling 70 yards on six catches and a touchdown. If he plays well against the Chargers, it may lock up his roster spot and a role in the offense.
Ty Summers, Linebacker
The veteran LB was a bright spot for the defense last weekend. He showed off his athleticism, making multiple stops in the run game against KC. Summers also grabbed a sack.
He is fighting for a depth role in the linebacker room that needs guys to step up for the Saints. Another strong impact from him could solidify a roster spot in front of some other veterans.
Payton Turner, Defensive Lineman
Turner was impressive against the Chiefs. His burst and athleticism was on full display. After an injury-riddled start to his career, the Saints could use a breakout year from the former first-round selection.
Turner plays with tons of energy, but his raw ability can only take him so far in the NFL. He looks a bit more polished so far this offseason. If he can make some plays against the Chargers, he could see plenty of playing time to open the year off the edge for the Saints.
These three, among others, must continue to impress if they want a impactful role with the Saints this season.
