Titans Pre-Draft Mailbag: Jeremiyah Love vs the field, Calvin Ridley’s new role, day 3 draft target
Answering your questions about the Tennessee Titans roster ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft.
With the 2026 NFL Draft less than a month away, I wanted to start a weekly mailbag series to address any and all of your questions! This edition has questions pulled from Tuesday night’s A to Z Sport Primetime show, which I host weekly (join me!), but in the future I will put out a request on social media for questions as well. Alright, now let’s talk some Tennessee Titans:
Titans Mailbag Questions
“Who would you put money on the Titans drafting?” -Ann
This isn’t last season, when it seemed clear to me after the Combine and was certainly clear to the whole world after the annual owners meetings that Cam Ward was the pick. At fourth overall, the Titans have options and are at the mercy of what the Jets and Cardinals do ahead of them. If you made me put down money on somebody right now, I really like the non-Jeremiyah Love odds at fourth overall. I’ve written and spoken at length about why I remain thoroughly unconvinced that Mike Borgonzi will take a running back at 4. But Vegas disagrees, because Love is -125 to be picked fourth. I’m seeing David Bailey +475, Rueben Bain +600, and Arvell Reese +1300. I like the idea of sprinkling on all of them, essentially taking the field. Even Carnell Tate at +1000 is a worthwhile consideration.
“What interior offensive line position do they chase first, center or guard?” -Drew
The answer to this question hinges on information that is held inside the walls of Titans HQ at the moment. Specifically, what is the understanding with veteran RG Kevin Zeitler? I spoke to him on locker cleanout day and he said he fully intends on playing another season and he certainly seemed interested in coming back to Tennessee. There has been further reported mutual interest between the parties to bring him back to complement RT JC Latham. But he still has not been signed, and at this stage I doubt he puts pen to paper before the draft. If the Titans feel good about bringing him back, center is a bigger priority. If they don’t, then perhaps a plug-and-play starting guard is on the table for Day 2.
“What are the chances we draft Logan Jones, center out of Iowa?” -BustinDiamond
Logan Jones is probably the most popular non-first round draft pick mocked to the Titans right now. This is because he was the starting center for the award-winning Iowa OL, and you can count the number of starting-caliber center prospects in this draft on one hand. His place on the consensus draft board falls right around the Titans’ fourth round pick, which is the first selection of Day 3. I like the idea of drafting him there a lot, and if he’s still on the board, I could totally see it.
“Any Rueben Bain Jr. Pro Day thoughts?” -Nando
Bain’s pro day involved no new measurements, though he did show off his polish and power with some position drills. I guess the Arm Stretcher 3000 was broken this week. My thoughts on Bain at this point boil down to fit. I think Bain is going to be a very good NFL player, and his profile is really impressive. His inconvenient length is just about the only on-field concern I have with him, which only functionally impacts where I expect he will line up in the pros. The way the Titans have built up Robert Saleh’s new DL has painted a pretty clear picture to me: they have bodies everywhere except at that true wide 9 edge position. Bain is a lot of things, but a standup pass rusher from the edge he is not. So he could certainly work on this team and be impactful, but his role is a lot more crowded at the moment.
“Do you see a trade back from #35, and how far would you want Borgonzi to move back from 35?” -TitanReport
I would be shocked if the Titans don’t spend much of the 20ish hours between the end of Day 1 and the beginning of Day 2 shopping pick 35. Every year there are a handful of surprising prospects who “fall” out of round 1 who everybody salivates over being able to “steal” in the second. This is why I think having one of the first picks in the second round is sneakily one of the greatest positions of leverage in the entire draft each year. If the Titans have a big target they’re set on, like one of the top receivers, they’ll stick and pick. But much like last year, I think Mike Borgonzi really likes the idea of adding another top-100 pick to his arsenal by moving back at this spot. This draft class in particular has a glut of worthy 3rd round grades that you can safely load up on.
“On cornerbacks, what’s the priority? Boundary guy, slot, or interchangeability?” -Jacob
This is a good question that requires further discussion with Titans brass. Hopefully I get a better answer at the Owners Meetings next week, so we’ll definitely circle back on this. My guess is that they’re focused on getting the best cornerback period. Outside corner is always going to be a bigger priority because of the difficulty of finding good ones as well as the fact that you need two of them. With Alontae Taylor’s inside-out versatility, Josh Williams added to the roster in free agency, and Marcus Harris heading into Year 2, I think they’d love to add an outside guy if all things are equal.
“Here’s my question… how many weeks do we honestly think Ridley plays? for me, I’ll be surprised if he makes it to Week 6.” -Eric
Ridley played in 14 games in 2024 and just 6 in 2025, dealing with hamstring issues before breaking his fibula in Week 11 last fall. He’s healthy now by all accounts, but he’s entering his age 32 season. Nothing is certain at this stage of a career. This is why the Titans have brought him back but at a reduced dollar amount and with upgraded WR help around him (especially if they draft one like I suspect they will). He’s icing on the cake this season in my eyes. He and Cam have chemistry, and he will play an important role. But I think that room will be built up in a way that keeps things moving with or without him available.
