New York Giants rookie wide receiver Jalin Hyatt won't be winning any jobs during OTAs in May and June, but it's still an extremely important time for the former Tennessee Vols standout.
Not only is Hyatt learning the Giants' playbook and culture during OTAs, but it's also his only chance to leave a good first impression on his new teammates and coaches.
And that's exactly what Hyatt is doing.
The 2022 Biletnikoff Award winner is already impressing via the extra work he's putting in with Giants quarterback Daniel Jones.
Hyatt was spotted staying late this week after an OTA session to get in extra work with Jones.
Hyatt has mostly been running with the third-team offense during Giants OTAs, but he's already starting to receive a few first-team reps during 7-on-7 action (it's also been noted several times that Hyatt looks just fine running routes).

Fox Sports NFC East reporter Ralph Vacchiano suggested this week that it won't be long before Hyatt becomes Jones' "go-to receiver".
"Hyatt is not only the explosive deep threat that quarterback Daniel Jones has never had, the Giants think he's got that potential on shorter routes too — someone who can take a quick slant and turn it into a huge gain," wrote Vacchiano. "It shouldn't take long for Hyatt to become Jones' favorite receiver and go-to guy."
By the way, it shouldn't be a surprise that Hyatt is already putting in extra work in New York.
After Hyatt's sensational five-touchdown game against Alabama last season, the former Vols star showed up at practice as if the Bama game never happened.
"You see him (Hyatt) at practice today and it's like nothing ever happened," said Alex Golesh (the Vols' OC last season) the week after Tennessee's win against Alabama. "All he's working on is perfecting his craft…It's just who Jalin has become."
Hyatt has the skillset to accomplish some special things in the NFL. So far, it sounds like he's making the most of his opportunity.
