Shocking news came out of the Tennessee football program Monday evening. Senior defensive lineman Danny O'Brien was dismissed for a violation of team rules.
The report first came from Wes Rucker of 24/7 Sports.
O'Brien was carted off the field Saturday at Texas A&M with a neck injury. He was taken to the hospital as a precaution and released in time to fly back with the team. The senior from Flint, Michigan tweeted that he was okay.
Butch Jones said he was 'day to day' at his Monday press conference. This news has odd timing, but it isn't the first time O'Brien has been in trouble with the team. He was suspended in 2015 for the Oklahoma game. He was also arrested in February of 2014 with a number of other football players for an off campus incident.
O'Brien took to Twitter again Monday after the news of his dismissal became public.
This is unfortunate for O'Brien and the Vols. He had become a fan favorite while having a solid senior season, and had riled up the fan base with his comments after the Florida game.
