‘The arrow is certainly pointing really up for him’ – Dan Quinn provides injury update on key player with the season approaching
The Commanders get be getting a major boost before the season.
The Washington Commanders are getting healthy at the right time with a lot of key players returning to practice, especially on offense, but we’ve been waiting for an update on a major piece that hasn’t been on the field in a while.
Terry McLaurin’s absence has shown that the Commanders need all the help they can get from the other wide receivers, with a lot of youth and unknowns, and that includes veteran Noah Brown coming back.
A positive update on a needed piece of the offense
When training camp started, we expected Brown to miss some time because of his injury at minicamp, but he was practicing and looked really good. All of the drills and his movement looked sharp on day one.
Then, he was pulled back from practicing, and we haven’t seen him in a while. Commanders HC Dan Quinn finally provided an update on Brown with the season less than three weeks away.
“He’s also kind of pushing past the rehab portion of the strength side and now on the return to play, the accelerations, the deceleration,” Quinn told the media. “So yeah, he’s close as well. And as he’s targeting through this week and into next week, the arrow is certainly pointing really up for him, and we’re pleased with where he is at. So yeah, good signs with Noah too.”
Noah Brown is more than a Hail Mary catcher
Brown was a big part of the passing offense last season, and not just because he caught the Hail Mary to beat the Chicago Bears. He finished fourth in receiving yards and catches, even after missing six games with an injury.
Jayden Daniels had a solid connection with Brown, and he came up big on some third downs and key situations that people forgot about. Brown has been a young quarterback’s best friend, and he did the same thing for CJ Stroud before becoming a safety blanket for Daniels.
The Commanders haven’t had a single training camp practice with the top three receivers on the field together, and hopefully they can get some practice time together with Brown and McLaurin both trending to return to the field soon.
The offense will be depending on youth in the wide receiver room to step up, and having Brown back who is a proven veteran who already has a connection with Daniels, can help the offense kick the season off to a hot start.
