They still have glaring needs on the defensive side of the ball to address ahead of the 2025 season. So, it shouldn't be a surprise that their first-round selection in a new A to Z Sports mock draft has them adding a difference-maker on that side of the ball.
Commanders select Marshall edge rusher Mike Green in a new mock draft

"There are some major question marks surrounding Green, but there aren't many involving his impact as a pass rusher. Green will only be an average run defender at his very best but he sure can affect opposing quarterbacks at a high level."
– New A to Z Sports Mock Draft
Following the Senior Bowl, Mike Green saw his stock rise more than anyone at the event. Some began predicting the talented pass rusher could hear his name as early as the top 10 in the 2025 NFL Draft. His dominance as a pass rusher at the event against some of the top offensive linemen in the class was undeniable. However, character concerns have been raised off the field, which will lead some teams to have a hard time considering drafting him despite how talented he seems.
The Commanders weigh the character of a prospect equal to the talent. It has helped the team to create a fantastic locker room environment, and according to GM Adam Peters at the Scouting Combine, their culture played a significant role in the team's success in 2024, which ended with the Commanders playing in the NFC Championship. So unless the Commanders become comfortable with Green the person as much as the player during interviews and speaking with him directly, I have a hard time seeing them being the team to ultimately select him.
