Commanders 3-Round 2026 NFL Mock Draft: Washington collects extra picks in the top-100 of the draft to rebuild roster needs
The Commanders trade back for more picks in the latest 3-round 2026 NFL mock draft to select WR Carnell Tate, and address the defensive needs as well.
The Washington Commanders dropped to 4-11 after falling to the Philadelphia Eagles at home, with two more games left in the season.
The season honestly ended weeks ago, and the coffin was really closed after Jayden Daniels was shut down with his injuries. It’s time to look ahead with the College Football Playoff, and the NFL regular season winding down. It’s mock draft season for teams eliminated from playoff contention, including the Commanders.
In my latest three-round mock draft, I have the Commanders trading back to take advantage of the top-10 picks, and also the value in the top-100 with an extra pick.
Commanders 3-Round 2026 NFL Mock Draft
Round 1, Pick 9 (via Cincinnati Bengals): Carnell Tate, WR, Ohio State
The Commanders trade back from the No. 7 overall pick with the Cincinnati Bengals for the No. 9 overall pick, the No. 73 overall pick, and a 2027 third-round pick. Caleb Downs, Arvell Reese, Rueben Bain Jr, and Jeremiyah Love all went in the top-six picks, so trading back was the right call.
The Bengals selected defensive tackle Peter Woods, while the Commanders took wide receiver Carnell Tate.
Tate is a 6-3, 195-pound wide receiver who will be an instant deep threat and producer on the Commanders’ offense. His elite traits, such as his athletic ability to adjust in the air for passes and his savvy route running, make him a blue-chip prospect for me. The Commanders need someone who can complement Terry McLaurin and turn into the future WR1, and that’s Tate.
Tate makes contested catches look routine with an insane 85.7% contested catch rate. He also has strong, reliable hands, which is why he has zero drops on 58 targets this season. His career could end with a 1,000-yard season at Ohio State, depending on the play results, and he already has nine touchdowns.
Round 3, Pick 71: Kamari Ramsey, S, USC
The Commanders need a lot of help on defense, and they desperately need better secondary play in coverage and with tackling. Kamari Ramsey is a draft crush of mine, and he can play safety and nickel corner at 6-foot, 205 pounds.
I’d love to see him play free safety, where he can make plays in coverage and as a sure tackler with a missed tackle percentage of only 3.3%. He’s shown the ability to play single-high on an island with insane closing speed and burst to react to a deep ball. Ramsey would be a massive improvement over the Commanders’ current safety play.
He can excel in man and zone coverage, and he’s not afraid of contact as a violent tackler in space. Ramsey is one of my favorite safeties in the draft, and he will have a lot of buzz leading up to April.
Round 3, Pick 73 (via Cincinnati Bengals): Gabe Jacas, EDGE, Illinois
The Commanders need to address the defensive line and get production in the pass-rushing unit, and Gabe Jacas is the guy to get the job done.
We don’t know how long Dorance Armstrong will be out, so they need someone who can produce right away. You’ll hear a lot about Jacas leading up to the draft in a deep EDGE group with a lot of potential. Jacas finished as the Big Ten sack leader with 11 sacks in 2025, and 41 pressures to go with it.
He’s a unit of a man at 6-3, 270 pounds, and he uses all of it with his high motor and strength. Jacas also has the speed to get outside around the edge and chase down the quarterback or ball carrier on plays away from him. His long arms helped him cause three forced fumbles this season, and he has long-term starter in the NFL written all over him. Super underrated player who will get plenty of praise this offseason.
