The Commanders have activated recent free agent signing to make his much-aniticipated debut against Seahawks
The Commanders get to see if one recent addition can be a piece of the roster moving forward.
The Washington Commanders are looking to get back on track after starting the season 3-5, and injuries have been a major factor.
The offense has missed key players just about every single week so far, including quarterback Jayden Daniels and wide receiver Terry McLaurin. Daniels and McLaurin haven’t played a game together since Week 2, and McLaurin is out once again for Week 9 after re-injuring his quad. There’s no timetable for his return, but it could be multiple weeks again.
The Commanders have done their best with additions to fill in for injuries, and one signing a few weeks back could turn out to be a major win for the team now and in the future. They will soon find out how much of an impact Treylon Burks can have on offense as they elevated him for his debut on Sunday.
Commanders call up Treylon Burks for his debut
The Commanders needed to make a corresponding move to fill in for McLaurin, and they decided to see what Burks has for the team, and he’s making his much-anticipated debut. This is a must-win game for the Commanders, so you know they love what they’ve seen from Burks in practice to give him that roster spot.
Treylon Burks has impressed lately
Now we haven’t seen Treylon Burks take the field for the Commanders yet, but he’s been practicing with the team and really making a name for himself. The coaching staff sees his potential and believes that Burks can be a contributing piece on offense. He’s always had the skillset and the traits to be a great player, and his IQ is just as impressive to passing game coordinator Brian Johnson.
This isn’t the first time the coaching staff has spoken highly of Burks, and head coach Dan Quinn was excited when general manager Adam Peters made the move to sign Burks after a visit.
“So, we’re excited he’s [Burks] here,” Quinn said. He’s somebody from Adam’s [Peters] side, and the scouting, and we’re excited. The coaches were excited. So, he had a couple of trips that he went
to visit, and we just wanted to lay out, ‘Hey man, this is what it would look like here and how we would feature you to go.’ So, we’re very excited.”
Burks has a real chance on Sunday to build a connection with Daniels and add a downfield threat that has been missing from the offense this season. We aren’t sure how much he will play against the Seattle Seahawks, but he will certainly have a lot of attention from the fanbase.
