The WR market is full of quality options after roster cuts around the league, and the Commanders can take advantage of it
Adam Peters will have these players on his radar.
The biggest concern of the offseason has been the depth of the wide receiver room for the Washington Commanders, with Noah Brown being injured again, and a lot of unknowns from younger players having to step up. The real answer to an insurance plan might be available now.
Every team around the league is on the daunting quest to cut the roster down to only 53 players, and the turnover of rosters and new regimes has made the WR market flooded with young, promising options for the Commanders.
The Commanders have also cleaned up their own WR room after releasing Michael Gallup, Chris Moore, and K.J. Osborn, making room for a new addition, including a recent draft pick that would fit the offense perfectly. Here’s a list of who should be on Adam Peters’ radar.
Malachi Corley

The New York Jets drafted Malachi Corley in the third round of the 2024 NFL draft, but they’ve already moved on, as he doesn’t fit the scheme of the new regime’s offense. Corley was the perfect fit for Kliff Kingsbury’s offense when he entered the draft, and he was a yards-after-catch monster. I spoke with him at the Senior Bowl as well, and he agreed that he could fit that Deebo-type role on Kingsbury’s offense.
Well, the Commanders went and got the one and only Deebo Samuel this offseason, so could Corley still fit the offense? Yes. Kingsbury could put Corley into the same role Olamide Zaccheaus had last season, and have him rotate in. The Commanders need youth anyway, and this would be a steal.
Trey Palmer
Trey Palmer was the victim of the deepest WR room in the NFL, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers had to release him. He will be a popular name on the waivers, and it would be tough for him to make it down to the Commanders near the bottom of the order, but I have faith. Palmer has a lot of talent that a team can take advantage of.
He’s always been an insane athlete who had raw traits to build off of, and he’s been developing well on the Bucs offense. Palmer has a great second gear and can get easy separation in his routes. His athleticism also allows him to high-point catches and be a true threat in the short game and as a deep pass catcher.
Traeshon Holden
Similar to Ja’Corey Brooks, Traeshon Holden was a popular undrafted rookie that a lot of teams had interest in. Holden is another younger guy who has a lot of potential, but the Dallas Cowboys have a deep WR room as well, and Holden was the odd man out, even after impressing during training camp.
His 6-foot-3 frame makes him a real red-zone threat, and he can pluck anything out of the air that comes his way. The Commanders would love his run-blocking as well as an underrated part of his game. Holden could develop into a real depth piece for the offense on the practice squad, or as the final WR.
Adam Peter will have plenty of choices to pick from when it comes to WRs on the free agency market, and young players like these three hitting the waivers, and they need to take advantage of it. Questions remain after McLaurin, Samuel, and Brown, and the offense can’t afford to face any hiccups if someone goes down, and they can build the future of the roster in the process.

I wasn’t expecting to hear this about the Commanders.
