The Washington Commanders kept the race for the NFC East crown alive with last week's thrilling win over the Philadelphia Eagles and the road is quite clear when it comes to taking home the franchise's first division title since 2020.

It's simple: The Commanders need to win out and the Eagles need to lose out. The remaining schedules for both teams have it set up to where if that happens, Washington wins the division tiebreaker at 4-2 over the Philly's 3-3 record in the NFCE. It defaults to this tiebreaker since the teams split the regular season record at 1-1.

The Eagles have the Cowboys and the Giants left on their schedule, which isn't very tumultuous when considering the overall state of both teams. But, the key with Philadelphia is Jalen Hurts' concussion. If Hurts can't play, anything can happen, as we saw last week. And, this Cowboys team is a lot scrappier than people are giving them credit for. Hell, just ask the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Well, the chances of Hurts playing on Sunday are slim-to-none after he missed the latest round of practice. The star quarterback missed practice all week long, which means he's all but guaranteed to miss the Week 17 matchup against the Cowboys. Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni even told reporters it's "going be tough for him to make it" when spoke with them on Friday.

Update: Hurts has been officially ruled out as of Sunday morning

Even with the injury news, the Cowboys are still seven-point road underdogs. They'll also be without star wideout CeeDee Lamb, who is done for the year with a shoulder injury. Still, Pickett is a clear downgrade, he's playing hurt with a ribs injury, and the Cowboys aren't backing down from any opponent, no matter who they are facing.

No Hurts on the field can only help the Commanders' chances. There's zero chance it hurts them. And we'll know exactly how things have played out by the time Washington kicks off against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday night.
